JWAY GROUP, Inc. has an immediate requirement for a Web Development Project Consultant (WDPC) with specialization in Globalization and Localization of web initiatives.

Responsibilities:

The WDPC is responsible for coordinating and participating in all facets of web design, production, maintenance, upgrades, quality assurance and compliance with established company-publishing standards. They will consult with clients on applications, information and content structure, user interface, presentation, and documentation and coordinate and communicate business and technical information (i.e., project activity summaries, technical briefings, etc.) to clients and the home office to expedite knowledge transfer within the JWAY organization and performance of JWAY's service commitments. The WDPC also conducts standards and process training among peers at a client account, attends planning meetings and participates in tactical implementations, i.e., assisting Account/Project Manager (A/PM) identify project resources, and new sales opportunities, etc.

This position requires on-site collaboration with the development team in San Jose, CA.

  • Advanced experience in HTML, CSS and DHTML (4)
  • Intermediate to advanced experience JavaScript, Action Scripting and Flash ( 3 )
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite ( 4 )
  • Intermediate to advanced experience Photoshop/Image Ready or Fireworks ( 3 )
  • Able to clearly annotate own code and write concise explanatory documentation ( 3 )
  • Experience of the development of intranet and extranet solutions for large corporations ( 4 )
  • Business-level understanding of Web technologies, and development of digital solutions ( 3 )
  • An understanding of a successful project methodology ( 3 )
  • Excellent organizational skills ( 4 ), possess good customer service skills ( 4 ), and the ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment. ( 4 )
  • Experience in direct communication with clients (written, oral, and face-to-face). Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with an international group of developers and country Marcom managers. ( 4 )
  • Documents & Correspondence – Preparation, proofreading materials for accuracy, completeness, formatting, and correct English usage, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling ( 3 )
  • Possess good working knowledge of encoding when working with global content ( 4 )
  • Experience with Teamsite and Documentum publishing systems ( 5 )
  • Working experience of using an enterprise content CSS and user experience guidelines is required ( 4 )
  • Working knowledge of server side includes (SSI) – majority of global pages’ content are SSI based ( 4 )
  • Education: Equivalent to completion of BS college-level coursework in business or a field related to the work (i.e., degree in a technical, information design and/or science-related subject). Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed below.

The WDPC is responsible for coordinating and participating in all facets of web design, production, maintenance, upgrades, quality assurance and compliance with established company-publishing standards.

After sufficiently understanding the business objectives of client(s), ensure development work is produced in context and to pre-defined company standards and industry best practices. WDPC contributes to the origination and development of project plans, to produce high quality web pages, perform peer code reviews and proactively be available to support both colleagues and stakeholders in the completion of project requirements.

The WDPC must be a good communicator, capable of explaining technical issues to non-technical audiences.

Excellent communications skills (Read, Write, Speak & Listen) required. WDPC will consult with clients on applications, information and content structure, user interface, presentation, and documentation. WDPC is required to coordinate and communicate business and technical information (i.e., project activity summaries, technical briefings, etc.) in a timely manner to clients and the home office to expedite knowledge sharing/transfer within JWAY and enhance delivery of teams’ consulting service commitments. Candidate must possess an assertive attitude to drive projects across the board.

WDPC must have a minimum of 3 yrs experience and be very proficient in HTML, DHTML, CSS 2.0, XML, XSL, JavaScript, JSP and CGI scripting.

The WDPC will build or provide web-based solutions using a variety of programs and internet technologies, i.e., HTML, DHTML, CSS 2.0, XML, XSL, JavaScript, JSP, ASP and possibly, CGI scripting, Perl, Visual Basic, C++ and Java. These may also include multimedia applications, database interactions, data modeling tools and Windows development tools.

The WDPC may develop the aesthetics, visual design and/or layout of web site artwork, GUI designs, and overall "look & feel" to enhance user experience and site performance.

The WDPC must be comfortable with troubleshooting code issues should the client have any.

The WDPC also may conduct standards and process training among peers at a client account and/or project/s level, attends planning meetings and participate in tactical implementations, i.e. assisting JWAY Account/Project Managers (A/PM) develop project plans, identify project resources, and new service opportunities, etc.

The WDPC also may be asked to conduct on-line technology research: research, track, and understand new web technologies in order to provide technical leadership in developing service applications and analyzing business requirements as they pertain to intranet and external internet-related systems.

The WDPC possesses a good working knowledge of web tools and processes for implementing globalized and localized content: hands-on knowledge in enterprise content CSS with the ability to review code and suggest changes or design; able to guide the stakeholders through the migration of older content to content CSS; edit and create design templates for stakeholders; use Teamsite for publishing about 40% of the time; maintain customized home page CSS particularly for countries like Japan, China and Korea; use XML to maintain global directories; on a daily basis, test global home pages and other global pages for accuracy and up-to-date information; work with global stakeholders in updating content on either home pages or Level 2 pages – End of Tree pages; use Photoshop to update spotlights as necessary; ensure encoding is properly set in global pages.

The ideal candidate may be required to work with other staff and/or multiple supervisors during peak work periods as needed. Work is measured based on objectives.

Applicant must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the home office; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 lbs.; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
