This position is the intermediate step for experienced JWAY staff wishing to advance forward in pursuit of a web technology business consulting career track, i.e. Project Manager or Web Analyst position. The Project Support Consulting Specialist (PSCS) is a web development project consultant or web application engineer that partners closely with both the JWAY Project Manager and the client to evaluate, recommend and execute solutions to web development initiatives. Primary responsibilities are two-pronged; a) As a Web Development Project Consultant, coordinate and participate in all facets of web design, production, maintenance, upgrades, quality assurance and compliance with established publishing standards, b) As a Project Manager/Analyst Trainee, assume a progressively active interface role between JWAY and the clients to identify, document and coordinate client requirements/expectations for deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
After sufficiently understanding the business objectives of client(s), ensure development work is produced in context, according to schedule, and to pre-defined company standards and industry best practices.
The PSCS is expected to produce high quality web pages, contribute in the origination and development of project overview statements and project plans, perform peer code reviews and proactively be available to support both colleagues and stakeholders in the completion of project requirements.
PSCS must have a minimum of 3 yrs experience and be very proficient in HTML, DHTML, CSS 2.0, XML, XSL, JavaScript, JSP and CGI scripting,
The PSCS will build or provide web-based solutions using a variety of programs and internet technologies, i.e., HTML, DHTML, CSS 2.0, XML, XSL, JavaScript, JSP, ASP and possibly, CGI scripting, Perl, Visual Basic, C++ and Java. These may also include multimedia applications, database interactions, data modeling tools and Windows development tools.
They may develop the aesthetics, visual design and/or layout of web site artwork, GUI designs, and overall "look & feel" to enhance user experience and site performance.
PSCS must be an excellent communicator, adept at presenting and conducting meetings, and capable of explaining technical issues to non-technical audiences.
Excellent communications skills (Read, Write, Speak & Listen) required. PSCS will consult with clients on applications, publishing tools, information and content structure, user interface, presentation, and documentation. As necessary, PSCS will become the point of contact for project stakeholders to identify, document, coordinate and effect timely performance and delivery.
The PSCS also will conduct standards and process training among peers at a client account and/or project/s level, attend planning meetings and participate in tactical implementations, i.e. assisting JWAY Account/Project Managers (A/PM) develop project plans, identify project resources, and new service opportunities, etc.
They also may be asked to conduct on-line technology research: research, track, and understand new web technologies, client infrastructure assets, etc., in order to provide technical leadership in developing service applications and analyzing business requirements as they pertain to intranet and external internet-related systems.
PSCS is required to coordinate and communicate business and technical information (i.e., project activity summaries, technical briefings, etc.) in a timely manner to clients, the Project Manager and the home office to expedite knowledge sharing/transfer within the company and enhance delivery of JWAY's consulting service commitments.
The ideal candidate may be required to work with other staff and/or multiple supervisors during peak work periods as needed. Work is measured based on objectives.
Current assignments/engagements require the PSCS to be on site (at clients’ premises or home office) 80% of the time, and be familiar with both CEC and CDC standards, templates and publishing tools).
Applicant must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to attend meetings at various sites within and away from the home office; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 lbs.; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
