SALES WEB-BASED TRAINING
DESCRIPTION
A multinational vendor for servers, storage and information technology services implemented a fully enhanced Market Development (MD) Salesforce.com application in 2008. The MD application aims to provide both MD Account Managers and Field Sales Representatives the ability to collaborate on opportunities to qualify and certify 3rd party software on the company’s platform, and thus, expand market coverage for its platform and related products and services.
The MD application online training modules represented the first major effort at the company to provide a centralized Web-based learning location for the Sales team to learn how to use the application to submit and manage customer requests for 3rd party software on the company’s platforms. The goals of the project were as follows:
- To create online, on-demand training for Sales users of the MD application
- To improve MD team productivity by reducing time needed to train Field Sales Representatives on the newly enhanced MD Salesforce.com-based application
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The key objective of Sales Web-based training project was to create online training for Sales users of the MD Salesforce.com application, providing:
- Organized content with clearly defined chapters and navigation
- User-controlled modules for self-paced instruction
- Company branded graphics and interface
- Closed captioning for hearing-impaired
JWay’ SOLUTION
To fulfill the project objective, JWay accomplished the following:
- Provided on-site consultation with subject matter expert (SME) to refine and organize training content
- Designed navigation, controls and slide template to be consistent with corporate branding
- Animated examples of each task for demonstration in training
- Cleaned screenshots of proprietary or misleading information for easier comprehension
- Integrated with MD Salesforce.com site for ease of use
RESULTS
The training modules are packaged on a single page linked from internal the MD Salesforce.com application. Users are able to go through the chapters at their own pace and revisit chapters when they need a refresher. This reduces demand on the Market Development team previously responsible for providing instruction and reduces the amount of user questions about the application.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
- Individual Flash files for each chapter using animation, voice and text
- Integrated Java-based navigation for ease of use and minimal site management
- Playbar controls for each chapter: pause, rewind, audio and closed captions (CC)
- Used Adobe Captivate for the production of training modules
