DESCRIPTION
Dynamic Strategies, a venture capital dotcom, felt that the Asian online market was ripe for the Asian version of Web MD. They turned to JWay to manage the task of globalizing a complex, multi-tiered site.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
The Kenkoweb Web site aimed to provide in-depth medical information to its public audience while creating a workflow engine for doctors and translators to publish medical information. Key project objectives were as follows:
- To create a globalized Web site to support different Asian languages
- To build a back-end application enabling high-level user personalization
- To provide the client with the ability to manage site content
- To include an online communities portion for chat and forums
JWay’ SOLUTION
To meet the project objectives, JWay accomplished the following:
- Designed information architecture and integration processes
- Designed and implemented dynamic, database-driven site/system architecture
- Designed and implemented user registration, entitlement and personalization features, including a personal homepage with favorite news, forums and chats, buddy list and email newsletter subscription
- Integrated an advanced site-search capability
- Integrated and customized the online chat feature
- Designed and implemented functions and interfaces for the User message-posting feature
- Designed and developed interfaces and functions to enable a client-side Admin Tool for content stakeholders to manage News, Forums and Chat content
- Provided Consulting and Project Management to:
- Ensure project implementation consistent with specifications, requirements and budget constraints
- Define strategy, provide technical support and direction
- Coordinate and integrate deliverables with several vendors and content providers
- Expedite communications
RESULTS
The collaborative efforts surrounding the project met the objectives stated above, through which the client gained:
- A globalization application for multilingual content
- A localizable, modular site structure - separating content from design
- A controlled access section for content stakeholders and administrators – registration required
- Real time client-side content management
- Enhanced performance - rapid page loading
- A facility for user data capture
