WEB DEVELOPMENT PROJECT CONSULTANT - GLOBALIZATION/LOCALIZATION SPECIALIST

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Web Development Project Consultant (WDPC) is responsible for coordinating and participating in all facets of Web design, production, maintenance, upgrades, quality assurance and compliance with established company publishing standards. The WDPC – Globalization/Localization Specialist must also be familiar with coding standards and practices used for the development of internationalized sites.

The WDPC consults with clients on applications, information and content structure, user interface, presentation, and documentation. The WDPC also coordinates and communicates business and technical information (e.g., project activity summaries, technical briefings, etc.) to clients and the home office to expedite knowledge transfer within the JWay organization regarding the performance of JWay's service commitments.

Additionally, the WDPC conducts standards and process training among peers for client accounts, attends planning meetings and participates in tactical implementations (e.g., helping the Account/Project Manager (A/PM) identify project resources and new sales opportunities or researching new Web technologies as they relate to client and company business requirements)


SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Advanced experience in HTML and CSS
  • Intermediate to advanced experience JavaScript, Action Scripting and Flash
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate to advanced experience Photoshop/Image Ready or Fireworks
  • Working knowledge of XML and XSL
  • Experience working with Perl/CGI
  • Ability to clearly annotate code and write concise explanatory documentation
  • Business-level understanding of Web technologies
  • Experience developing intranet and extranet solutions for large corporations
  • Experience working with enterprise-level CSS standards and user experience guidelines
  • Must have excellent organizational skills good customer service skills, and the ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience in direct communication with clients (written, oral, and face-to-face)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with an international group of developers and country marcom managers.
  • Experience in the preparation of documents and correspondence including: proofreading materials for accuracy, completeness, formatting, and correct English usage including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Possess good working knowledge of character encoding when working with non-English content
  • Working knowledge of server side includes (SSI) and their uses in international Web sites
  • Education: Equivalent to completion of college-level coursework in business or a field related to the work (i.e., degree in a technical, information design and/or science-related subject),or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ALSO HAS:

  • Understanding of successful project methodologies
  • Experience with Teamsite and Documentum publishing systems
  • Experience with JSP, ASP and/or PHP
  • Familiarity with Visual Basic, C++, Java

LOCATION:

This position requires on-site collaboration with a development team in San Jose, CA.
