ELEARNING MEDIA DEVELOPER
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Elearning Media Developer (EMD) has the responsibility of applying instructional design principles to design, develop, deploy and maintain effective Web-based learning solutions and content for JWay’s ELearn@Work team. The EMD collaborates with peers, project managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and clients to rapidly execute and implement quality self-paced learning tools for workplace training and development.
The EMD manages content to support course goals and objectives; ensuring timely delivery of elearning media per project milestones. The EMD reviews, delivers and revises instructional content based on feedback from managers, producers and project stakeholders; helping to focus the content for the Web and raise any discrepancy issues as required. Although this position presents opportunities to develop complex animations and user interactions working with Photoshop, Flash, Captivate, HTML, JavaScript and simple XML, a large part of the EMD’s responsibilities may involve taking PowerPoint slides, and with basic instructions, producing swf files using Captivate or a similar tool. The EMD will review all deliverables for completeness, compliance with applicable standards, and consistency with the design. The EMD may be asked to capture and output interfaces of applications and operating systems in one or more languages other than English.
The EMD will be expected to analyze and challenge current working methods to create improvements, collaborate with an offshore team as needed, and perform other duties pertaining to training and documentation, as required.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and creativity.
Qualified candidates must have 3+ years experience in training and/or education as a course content developer, with hands-on experience designing and developing elearning programs for large business projects in a corporate environment.
This position also requires candidates to have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, assist in estimates, and take initiative on projects. Candidates should possess strong problem-solving abilities and be able to determine and recommend appropriate training delivery methods based on project needs.
Intermediate to advanced skills in the following:
- Multimedia software including Flash (and ActionScript), Captivate (preferred), Camtasia (or similar)
- Graphics software including Photoshop and Fireworks
- MS Office suite including PowerPoint
- HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Dreamweaver
- Video and audio editing tools
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing
IDEAL CANDIDATE ALSO HAS:
- Experience in testing and delivering content to an LMS
- Experience working with databases
- Experience working with XML and an XML editor
- Experience developing Flash in an internationalized environment
LOCATION:
This position requires on-site collaboration with a development team in San Jose, CA.
